The Holy Ghost Said!
Where There Is No Law
After returning from attending Rhema Bible Training Center for two years, NASA wanted me to come back to work at my old job. Since I hadn't received definite direction for the ministry, I put my hand to what was available and went back to work. I frequently read my Bible during lunch time, and had been reading in the book of Romans one day. When work was over that day, on my way across the parking lot to my car, the Holy Ghost spoke to me.
He said, "Did you notice that where there is no law, there is no transgression?" I said, "Yes." He then said, "Likewise when Satan rebelled, he wasn't in transgression because there was no law against it." Along with this he dropped a revelation into my spirit revealing why he was calling my attention to this fact. I realize it blows many people's theology to accept this, but when the Holy Spirit reveals something to you, theology must take a back seat. When he drops revelation into your spirit, there's no arguing with it. You see and understand clearly so there's nothing with which to argue.
One reason that he was able to reveal this to me is because of a lesson that he had taught me concerning disciplining my children. I had chastened my two oldest children many times in my younger days because I thought they should have known better than to do what they had done. I was convicted of these actions when I heard Willie George preach on the subject. He exhorted parents not to chastise their children for things that they had never explained to their children that they were wrong. He shared an example from his own life when he punched holes in their new bar stools with a ball point pen, not realizing anything was wrong with doing it. He still had the pen in his hand when his father saw what he had done and yelled out his name. His father gave him a good whipping for doing something that he didn't know was wrong.
If we don't take the time to teach our children those things that are right and wrong, we shouldn't punish them for not knowing better. Anyway, in the natural, a person can not be jailed or punished for doing something that there is no law against. When a law is written, it must also specify the penalty (or range of penalties) for breaking the law. One state legislature was laughed at for making a law against something but forgetting to specify the penalty for breaking the law. The law was then powerless. God frequently uses natural things to explain spiritual things. He explained to me how that he had not created any laws against angels rebelling before Satan's rebellion took place. Rebellion wasn't even conceived in God's mind for him to make such a law. Purity and Love don't sit around trying to imagine what evil might occur. It was conceived originally in Lucifer's heart instead of the mind of God (Eze. 28:15).
Since there was no law against it, God could not justly punish Lucifer or the other angels for their rebellion. Since God (the judge of this whole earth) must be justified in all his ways so that no one can ever question his righteousness, there could be no punishment for the rebellion. I have never heard anyone else share this revelation, and I don't know why God revealed it to me, other than so that I would better understand the purpose of this whole age. This age has three main purposes that are all related to Lucifer's rebellion. 1. To eternally make an end of sin and incarcerate the rebels. 2. To repopulate heaven's loss with a higher race of beings who will never rebel. 3. To raise up a lowly judge (Jesus) whom no one could question his right or ability to judge.
God did not give me full revelation of everything that is involved in accomplishing these purposes, but he gave me glimpses of things. One law had to be given that would apply to all beings including God himself. The lawgiver cannot be above the law. He couldn't exclude his next creation, man, from being under the same law that the rebellious angels would be under. Breaking the highest law would require eternal punishment in hell fire. Hell was created for the devil and his angels, but man could not be excluded if he broke the highest law. Transgressing the highest law in not committing sin or rebellion, (all mankind is guilty of this except Jesus), but it is rejection of the truth. (See St. John 3:18-21, 8:44-47, 17:16-19, 18:37, Rom. 1:17-18, II Thes. 2:7-12) There is no hope of redemption for anyone who rejects the truth.
God cannot create character. Lucifer was his highest creation and his character became flawed because of pride. Character must be formed in the crucible of trials and tribulation, so God created man in the midst of the fire of temptation and tribulation. God did not create evil, but he is allowing it to test and temper a higher being than the angels.
In order for the highest penalty to be eternal, the transgression must warrant such extreme penalty. We get a glimpse of this in Genesis 15:13-16 where God could not give Canaan to Abraham's descendants until the iniquity of the Amorites was full. God is allowing Satan, the fallen angels, and demons to fill up their cup of iniquity before the final judgement so that their punishment cannot be questioned. Many people ask how God can allow so much wickedness and destruction to go on in the world today. What man perceives as great tragedies aren't necessarily tragedies in God's sight. The only real tragedy is for a person to reject truth and suffer eternal damnation.
Even Satan will get a short reprieve at the end of the millennium reign of Christ to prove that he is beyond any hope of change. It's interesting that many states have a "three strike law" which recognizes that after three strikes rehabilitation is probably hopeless. After a law was given spelling out the punishment for transgressors, Satan tempted Adam and Eve to rebel against God's authority. He crucified Christ Jesus, an innocent man. He will rebel against Christ's millennium reign. That's three strikes for sure. I could share much more, but this is enough for you to see that there is a reason for everything that God is doing or allowing in this age. It's all wrapped up in his plan to put an eternal end to Lucifer's rebellion and its consequences.
